Agate is a cryptocrystalline variety of silica, made up of mostly chalcedony. It has a very fine grain, and often has a banded appearance. It was named by a Greek philosopher, who discovered it in what is now Sicily. 

These tumbled Agates are naturally colored blue and so they have plenty of eye-catching variation, and have uniquely banded patterns throughout each piece. 

Agates are thought to be grounding, stabilizing stones that are ideal for emotional, physical and mental balance. They are thought to improve concentration, acceptance of self, and letting go of internalized anger.
