Also called the pink river dolphin or boto, it belongs to the family Iniidae within the Odontoceti suborder of cetaceans. Amazon river dolphins are known for their distinctive pink coloration, flexible necks, and long snouts. They inhabit slow-moving rivers and flooded forests, where they primarily feed on fish, crustaceans, and sometimes even turtles. These dolphins play important ecological roles in their habitats and are culturally significant to indigenous communities living along the rivers.
